God told Moses in Exodus 30 to create a holy anointing oil and holy incense for the Tabernacle's worship. Myrrh was to be used in the holy oil, while frankincense was to be used in the holy incense. These two main smells were blended with additional exotic spices to create a distinct scent for the Tabernacle and eventually the Jerusalem Temple.
Because frankincense and myrrh appear so frequently in the Bible, it appears that they were two of God's favorite smells. The wise men did not bring these gifts to Jesus at His birth by chance. He is God, and He is enamored with their aromas!
God told Moses and Aaron to use frankincense and myrrh to prepare fragrances and holy anointing oils for the Tabernacle's service. These delectable aromas were agreeable to God and were to be revered as sacred.

The Holy Land, where Jesus traveled, produces this anointing oil. Natural, pure Galilee and Jerusalem virgin olive oils are combined with frankincense and spikenard before being perfumed with biblical flowers and plant essence typical of the Holy Land.
And they were casting out many demons and were anointing with oil many sick people and healing them. (Mark 6:13)
